We have an interesting collection of heritage diesel locomotives (ie pre-1950s), one of which is illustrated below, and in a normal year we would try to arrange these services specially to give you opportunities to see some of them running.
For each of these heritage diesel days the normal timetable and fares would apply, and on each day one of the locomotives would be in operation. We should only be fixing which locomotive would be operating on each day a short time in advance, once we could be reasonably certain that we would be able to operate the advertised locomotive, which does depend both on the locomotives themselves and on the availability of suitably qualified crew.
Since we have no idea yet whether there will be anything normal about 2021, we have not yet made any arrangements for heritage diesel services. If the coronavirus situation looks as though it is beginning to return to some sort of normality, then later in the year we may try to arrange some of these services: watch the pages of our web site for information.
In particular, if we are able to try to run any kind of gala event then we may try to feature one. Also, we know that the Heritage Open Days for 2021 are being planned for 10th to 19th September, and if we can join in then we will aim to run heritage diesel services as part of them.
Please note that, while every effort will be made to run the scheduled locomotive(s) on each day, we can not guarantee to be able to do so, and the Railway reserves the right to alter, cancel or suspend any train without notice. No liability is accepted for any loss, inconvenience or delay caused, either by having to operate with an alternative locomotive or by any alteration cancellation or suspension of the Railway's train services.
